[Home Care Guide] Don’t yell at your dog
Dogs are like children, sometimes very naughty. Some owners will scold their dogs loudly if they see them doing something wrong. This kind of discipline seems normal, but it has a bad impact on dogs. A recent study found that owners who yell at their fur babies on a regular basis can stress them out.

▼Researchers from the Universidade do Porto in Portugal found 42 dogs that received positive training and 50 dogs that received aversive training. Through comparative experiments, they observed the impact of different training methods on the dogs. .

▼Researchers collected saliva from dogs while they were relaxed and tested the cortisol content. Cortisol is known as the "stress hormone" and plays an important role in coping with stress. Then the dogs began to receive training, and the researchers again collected saliva and compared it with the previously measured cortisol levels. The results showed that dogs who experienced yelling and rough pulling were more stressed. Their saliva has higher levels of cortisol, and they yawn and lick their lips more frequently, which are also signs of stress.

▼Aversion training not only causes stress to dogs, but can also cause long-term effects. One month later, the researchers again found these dogs for experiments. They placed a bowl in the room. When the bowl was on one side of the room, it would be filled with delicious food. If the bowl was on the other side, it would be empty.

▼The researchers placed the bowls in different places to test how long it took the dogs to find the patterns. If the dogs find it quickly, it means they are looking forward to the food; if they find it slowly, it means they don't have much hope for the food. The results showed that the longer dogs received aversion training, the slower they found food.

Owners always scold and yell at dogs. They may seem obedient, but in fact they are afraid that their owners will be angry, and they live on tenterhooks every day. Dear owners, it is better to train your dogs through positive motivation methods of encouragement and rewards. Give them more love and patience, and they will definitely become the good children in your mind~
